Ecoborgo is an extension of the city on the Southwest outskirts of Verona. The terrain of the episcopate will be transformed in an ecologically developed new city district. The presences of the church will be evident in the district with the new planned headquarters of the episcopate. The district will host a catholic seminar, elementary and secondary school, a boarding-school and a training centre for priests. Besides these educational functions, a retirement home was asked by the competition program. 10.000 m2 are designated for housing, sports facilities, offices and a small commercial centre. The new district will be self-supporting for its energy consumption. The traffic will be reduced by introducing an active access control and all streets have a dead end so that driving around is impossible.
