The closed international competition for the County Hall of Bergamo deals with a urban development project around the central station of the city that gives the name to the Province. The urban plan is a rather forced attempt to crosslink the 19th century city centre with the development of the Southern city from the 20th century. The two city parts are divided by the railway line and its shunting area.
The County Hall is an icon, and announcement of, for a new city centre. The County Hall on the ground floor seeks for a connection with its future urbanity and aims at offering the citizens a urban lounge. In the up-going part of the building the semi-public services are situated. The administration finds its home between the public part and the semi-public part of the building.
